Parent Engagement Network (PEN)

Welcome to the Parent Engagement Network (PEN) at Mary MacKillop Catholic College!

The PEN honours the place of parents and families in the life of our College through providing an avenue for parents and families to come together to be informed, consulted and learn in relation to school planning, policy, decision making and education programs, and engage in activities, projects and events that build community.

The PEN provides a forum for discussion and discernment, where the parent/guardian voice and perspective are available to inform and support the decisions made by the Principal for the good of the College.

We are an inclusive and collaborative group dedicated to supporting our College community. Our network is comprised of a diverse array of parents, alumni, staff, parish and community members, all united by a common goal: enhancing the educational experience for everyone involved.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create a supportive and vibrant College community through collaboration, engagement, and resource sharing. We believe that by working together, we can provide our students with the best possible educational environment.

What We Do

Strategic and Operational Support of the Principal

We play a vital role in providing both strategic and operational support to the College Principal in ensuring the continued success and growth of the school. PEN assists in articulating and enacting the College’s vision and mission, while actively promoting the College's Catholic ethos and culture. We work closely with the College Principal to support the development of educational programs, faith formation initiatives, and overall school's policies. Our network offers valuable input in interpreting Toowoomba Catholic Schools policies within the unique context of the College, ensuring that decisions align with both local and diocesan expectations. Additionally, PEN provides advice on key matters such as the school’s strategic plan, annual budget, financial decisions, and master planning, as well as capital resource planning and maintenance. Through our collaborative efforts, we aim to support the College Principal in fostering a thriving, faith-filled educational environment for all students.

Support through Fundraising
We organise various fundraising activities throughout the year to gather resources that directly benefit our students and College. These resources help enhance learning environments, provide necessary materials, and support extracurricular activities.

Volunteering at School Events

Our volunteers are the backbone of College events. Whether it's helping at a school disco, assisting in the classroom, or organising special events, our members actively contribute their time and skills to ensure the success of these activities.

Engagement Initiatives
We strive to foster strong relationships between parents, students, and staff. Through workshops, meetings, and social events, we encourage open communication and active participation in College life.
