Scholarship & Bursary Opportunities
About our Scholarships
As we grow, it becomes even more important that students at Mary MacKillop Catholic College are positive, engaged and resilient learners, who can make a positive contribution to our College culture and our mission.
The purpose of the scholarship program at Mary MacKillop Catholic College is to identify, celebrate and acknowledge exceptional achievements. As a Catholic College in the Josephite tradition, one of our scriptural touchstones is John 10:10, ‘I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full’. This scripture speaks to the importance of excellence in ensuring dignity, abundance and identity for our students.
Successful scholarship applicants will have evidence of high grades throughout their schooling. If applications are submitted for Sporting or Arts excellence, there will be evidence of at least regional level sporting representation or external arts participation of note. A useful guide is AMEB qualifications of at least Grade 3. In addition to these elements, we are particularly interested in recruiting young men and women with strength of character and a positive outlook, who will seek to use their gifts for the good of our community.
We recognise that there are community members who may be unfamiliar with our Catholic tradition but feel a strong sense of affinity with St Mary MacKillop’s efforts to support the vulnerable and marginalised. The MacKillop Scholarship is designed to offer students who have shown exceptional leadership in supporting others in their community, as outlined by references and in interview. It is expected that they make a positive contribution to the social justice and service learning program and outreach elements of the College.
