Principal's Report
On Wednesday, 22 May we welcomed Richard Coe to his new Deputy Principal role at Mary MacKillop Catholic College. He had a range of meetings with staff and has begun his journey to the College and the MMCC Community.
We have just enjoyed the vibrant feast of Pentecost, which ends the Easter season. We are reminded of the powerful transformation that the Holy Spirit brought upon the apostles, igniting within them a fire that would spread across the world. It is right that we reflect on the flames of dedication, perseverance, and community that burn brightly within our College.
The challenges and triumphs of a school resonate deeply with the spirit of Pentecost. Just as the apostles were emboldened to step out into the world with courage and conviction, Mary Mac students have shown remarkable spirit and determination in their academic, artistic, sporting and personal journeys. Of course, this is also about the power of community, and they not only pursue excellence but also so often support one another, embodying the unity and strength that the Holy Spirit fosters.
I am so proud as Principal that the fruits of the Holy Spirit are evident in our everyday. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are qualities that our students strive to embody every day. These virtues, markers of who our students are, are the true indicators of success and the foundation upon which their character, achievements and pathways will be built.
As we celebrate Pentecost, let us also remember that as a community, we are calling them to be ‘who’ they could be rather than ‘what’ they could be. In the complexity of the world they will grow up in, the former will have much more currency than the latter, and we hope for the Holy Spirit to help us form greatness.
