Principal's Report

Welcome to the new school year at Mary MacKillop Catholic College!
I hope you all had a restful break. I am really thrilled to see the positive energy and enthusiasm in classrooms and around the grounds as we begin this academic year. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone for making the start of the school year so smooth and positive. Your support and cooperation have been invaluable, and it’s wonderful to see our community come together with such spirit and dedication.
Inspired by the example of St Mary MacKillop, we will continue to embrace the values of faith, courage, and service. Her legacy reminds us to focus intentionally on the people around us. This year, we will strive to live out this mission in all our actions and interactions.
We are now the largest school overall and the largest P-6 campus in the Toowoomba Catholic Schools system. A challenge as we grow is maintaining a nurturing, faith-filled and positive culture. You will have seen that we have commenced the year re-setting many standards regarding uniform, broad behavioural expectations and of course mobile phones and other internet enabled devices. A focus on these things helps us maintain a culture of inclusion and academic excellence.
We remain though dependent on other elements. Our Catholic identity remains at the heart of our school. We will continue to celebrate our faith through regular masses, liturgies, and prayer services. I encourage everyone to participate actively in these spiritual activities. Academically, we are committed to excellence.
Our teachers and staff are here to support each student in reaching their potential. Let’s strive for excellence in all our endeavours and celebrate our achievements together. Service to others inspired by the Gospel is a core element of our school. This year, we will continue to engage in various outreach programs and community service projects. These activities teach our students the importance of compassion and social responsibility. All of these factors support the culture of an authentic Catholic community.
Thank you so much for your assistance in helping us start the year in such a positive way.
Mr Chris Gabbett
College Principal
