Planning for Growth at Mary MacKillop
It's been a whirlwind start to Term 3 with Mary MacKillop Catholic College just receiving the plans for construction of a third Science lab in the Senior School.
Members of the College Leadership team met with Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office and the College Architect, Lester Ehrlich this week to further advance the growth in College facilities. Lester is an award winning architect with a strong connection to Toowoomba, and his ideas for developing and re-purposing elements of the site have been outstanding.
At this stage, a Senior Science Lab has been designed and will be submitted this term for full approvals and tender applications. Future elements of the Master Plan under discussion involve a proposal for a bespoke Arts and Culture Hub and the construction of a multi-use playing field. Principal Chris Gabbett said, ‘We are so fortunate to have the strategic support of the Diocese and the talent of people like Lester Ehrlich working with us. These plans will give our entire College first class facilities in the areas of STEM, the creative arts and sport’.
With Senior School enrolments expecting to reach over 300 students in 2021, this extension to the Science hub will be timely with growing demand for the popular Senior Science subjects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
This is an exciting project for the College as we continue to expand to meet the growing Mary MacKillop Catholic College student population.
