Mary MacKillop Catholic College Secures $3.6 Million in Federal Funding for New Classrooms

Mary MacKillop Catholic College in Highfields is thrilled to announce they will receive $3.6 million in capital funding from the Federal Government. This generous contribution, part of the Block Grant Authority funding, will support the construction of a new two-storey building in the Penola section of the Senior School. The project will include seven new classrooms to accommodate the growing number of Senior students, with the total cost of the build estimated at $4.6 million.

College Principal, Mr Chris Gabbett expressed his delight upon receiving confirmation of the funding from Senator Anthony Chisholm's office at the end of the school year.

"This contribution is pivotal in realising our vision of developing state-of-the-art facilities for our senior students, and maintaining outstanding provision to the Highfields community," Mr Gabbett said.

"Our goal at Mary MacKillop is to provide an outstanding and holistic Catholic education for our students. These new facilities are central to that mission, and we are deeply appreciative of the support from the Federal Government and the Queensland Catholic Education Commission."

The next phase of the project involves the commencement of the tendering process, with the new building expected to be ready for use by 2026.
